For most of his open wheel racing career, James has been Competing in Champ Car Atlantic and hoping to get his chance in Champ Cars. In 2008 he drove Champ Cars in the last two races of the seasonn (Australia, Mexico City) and was recently signed for 2009 by Forsythe Championship Racing. Hinchcliffe took three pole positions, six top-five results and nine top-10 results in 12 races to finish fourth in the championship for Sierra Sierra Enterprises in 2007. Competed for Team Canada in the A1 Grand Prix series in 2006. Enjoyed a strong rookie Atlantic season competing with the Forsythe Championship Racing team. Scored three podium results including third at Long Beach, his first Atlantic series victory coming at Portland and a third-place run at Montreal, where he also captured his first Atlantic pole. 2006 - Produced three victories, three poles and six podium results in his first season competing in the Star Mazda Series. Finished the season ranked second among all rookies and was third in the overall championship standings. 2004 - Collected Formula BMW USA Rookie of the Year honors after scoring three wins, four poles and 10 podium finishes. Earned Atlantic test with Polestar Racing Group at Sebring after emerging as top series rookie. 2003 - Totaled five wins, four poles and 11 podium results while finishing third in the Bridgestone Racing Academy F2000 series. 2002 - Captured the TKC Junior Rotax Class Karting Championship with seven wins in seven starts. Earned Junior Rotax Canada Cup title and won TKC Winter Series Championship. 1996-2001 - Competed in several regional and national karting series and championships throughout the United States and Canada.
